Cactus at the Garden of the Gods

Cactus at the Garden of the Gods

Cactus at the Garden of the GodsSometimes you have to lie in the dirt to get the shot. This cactus is only about 3” tall. Several areas in the garden have large patches of these little cacti.

After moving here and witnessing the harsh snowy winters and at such a high elevation I was surprised to see so many cacti growing in the area.  I supposed the high elevation and harsh winter environment is what prevents any of them growing to any size.
